About bright star, a wonderful piece of art

So, for me this still has an important place in the movie. It represents the meeting of both universes of Fanny Brawne and John Keats. On the one hand, we have Fanny all dressed in white, the color that symbolizes purity. She’s surrounded by the light coming from the outside. That makes her look almost like an angel or a fairy, we could even draw a parallel between that image and the title of the movie, Bright Star. The beautiful landscape that we can see behind her allows the viewer to be eager to see more of it. Unfortunately, the door and Fanny are partly hidden by the dark house of the poet (John Keats). While Fanny and her summer dress inspire positive feelings, such as curiosity and even joy, the house of the poets looks very empty and recalls  the lack of inspiration that the poet suffers from, for example with the absence of colors. This contrast shows that Fanny and John are both very different from each other, because they come from unalike social backgrounds and have a passion for different activities : Fanny likes to stitch, while John writes poetry.14F2AAA4-2D48-4466-AEB6-D2D1BE0DA6CD

Then, this picture represents for me the fences between Fanny and John. They are not touching, nor even looking at each other or talking because what they feel for each other is beyond words. Various times, they could have giving up loving each other due to the amount of people who warned them, saying that it was not a good idea because John is to poor to marry his lover. It feels like Fanny is asking him to follow her outside with her, perhaps to share love and happiness there, but apparently John is stuck in complicated and harsh thoughts, embodied by the darkness of his clothing and the shadow on his face. They are likely to share something that nobody can see or explain even through a movie. 7CE747BD-FCEE-49EB-9120-33D51BD1857BFinally, the last still symbolizes for me a feeling of peaceful and calm wellness. Fanny is lightly smiling and it looks like the most pure, sincere smile ever. She must be thinking about her lover. The flowers reminds of spring, hope and joy. We could add that women and flowers are often associated in poetry, because they both symbolize ephemeral beauty. She is looking far away up to the sky, maybe she is thinking of a future with John. The fact that she’s kind of into the wild makes her even more poetic.
